The split second decision that could end up saving the person’s life or ending it. Few people have the ability to save someone’s life and it requires an enormous amount of hard work to become one of them. Luckily Seminole High School (SHS) has many medical clubs and one of them includes the Cardiology club.
The SHS cardiology club prepares young students who want to major in the field of hearts, the most vital organ of the body. Through activities and games, it teaches important information to students or even students interested in becoming a doctor.
However, before all the learning starts, the Cardiology club decided to make a fun little activity encouraging everyone to come, as long as you pay dues. To start off the year, the first event was a cookie decorating event filled with different types of frosting, toppings, and various designs.
Aamina Lakha, a junior in the Health Academy and co-president, explains: “We try to do a lot of hands-on events and labs while learning about the field of Cardiology. For example, last year a pediatric cardiologist came and led a heart dissection which we are planning to do again this year. We also like to practice general health skills like vitals and drawing blood.”
Many students also enjoyed the cookie event. With various designs ranging from a simple cute heart to spiderman and ghostface, this event was definitely popular among students and encouraged many new participants.
Junior Prisni Nawala exclaims: “I think that cardiology is a great club that can teach us in a fun, hands-on way about clinical practices and other medical issues. Personally, I thought that the cookie event was definitely a fun experience to get closer with other club members! There were a lot of designs too. I made a skeleton face and decorated it with sprinkles. While my friends did different designs like hearts, ghost faces, pumpkins, and spiderwebs.”
Overall, teaching young scientists or students who have a faint interest in the medical field through interactive labs and events, this club is definitely one to join.
