The Seminole High School Asian Student Association (ASA) hosted a 2025 Spring gala in downtown Longwood on Friday, March 28th. This has been a highly anticipated night, not only for the students at Seminole, but also for those around Seminole County.
In the past, the spring gala was known as the winter ball, but due to unforeseen circumstances, they were no longer allowed to participate in the winter ball. This is why the Seminole ASA created the spring gala.
Senior and President of ASA, Selena Awwad, helped curate this event. She believes that the purpose of the spring gala was to “bring people in the ASA together. It was also kind of like a fun fundraiser to raise some money for our club and, all in all, just a fun event where kids can enjoy themselves and dance and have a good time.”
Awwad wants students to attend the spring gala since, “There’s always great food. It’s an amazing way to socialize, and who wouldn’t want to come, dance, and have a great time with their friends!”
The spring gala isn’t just about having fun. It has an impact on the ASA itself. Awwad hopes that this dance will, “Help promote ASA and get the word out so we can get as many members as possible, build a stronger Asian community throughout our schools and help educate people on Asian culture.”
The tickets were sold online through My School Bucks for $20 each, with the event starting at 7 pm and ending at 10 pm. It was a night full of dancing, having a good time, and enjoying all of the Asian cuisines being offered.
For those who missed attending this year, don’t stress. There will be another spring gala taking place next school year. So be sure to invite your friends when the next gala date is announced for a night full of excitement.
