Interview by Jillian Lachcik, Reporter
Q: What changes have you seen at Seminole during the time you’ve been here?
A: When I came here 31 years ago, we had 1100 students, now we are pushing 3500, and we are the 8th largest school in the state. We have gone from Sanford kids, to a whole melting pot of kids from all over. Very few of us [teachers] left from 1984 (Mrs. Prevatt, Mrs. Cooper, Coach Corso, Mrs. Sawyer, Coach Merlino, etc.) are still here at Seminole. I have gone from knowing all of the teachers names and having a personal relationship with them, to seeing a teacher who has worked here for 2 years, and me meeting them today.
Q: How has your experience at Seminole been for you?
A: It’s been the most wonderful job I have ever had. I have had chances to coach at many colleges and high schools, but I am very loyal to Seminole High. Being a member of this community has been the best experience of my life. Many of the buildings are new and have been redone, but the students here never change; this is a very special place. There is no other place I would rather be than here. The students really care, the teachers really care, and the whole community really cares about each other. I’d never go to another school.
Q: What will you remember most about Seminole in one sentence?
A: Can I say two words?
Q: Of course!
A: My home.
