The Lady Noles fall lacrosse season started their season Saturday, October 25 in a game against Lake Nona with the final score being 15-3 lady Noles.
While fall is not the main season for lacrosse, it is a proving ground for the spring to see who has been putting in work during the off season. Fall really prepares coaches and players for the upcoming challenges in the spring and shows how well the team is coming together and playing. It’s also the time to break in new players and give them experience before the spring.
Sophomore and two year varsity player Nia Dudley says, “I think [the fall season] is going to build up our confidence and just give us more experience.”
Last year, the Lady Noles lacrosse team was comprised of mostly underclassmen. Now, the team has more experienced players including freshmen and sophomores who received varsity experience their first years playing high school ball.
Head girls lacrosse coach Michael Millen says, “It comes with experience, even though were one year older it all comes down to reps.”
Their game against Lake Nona also gave a preview into how the girls are looking already. They are more fluid and focused than in the previous season proving this with high shots as the cage and fifteen of them in the net.
Millen also says, “We still have to work on the fundamentals, catching, moving with the ball. I saw some good passes, younger players scoring. I was pleasantly surprised of how we were as a team and how we played.”
The young team has room for improvement, but the preview into the season is promising and should be a clear sign of how the program has developed.
Senior captain Madison Eberhardt says, “I’m thinking there’s going to be a more positive outlook, last year was our first year really playing good, I think we can take that on to the field this fall and in spring.”
The girls were playing well in their season opener and are expecting big things for the rest of this fall season.
