Ahh, summer time: a two month respite from the hectic school year. Summer vacation is a time for countless dips in the pool, weekly beach trips, amusement park fever, and road trips or vacations to the great beyond. This all sounds keen and peachy, until summer plans cancel or change drastically. If this is to happen, have no fear, for here are some methods to keep that glowing summer smile, even after summer vacation comes to an end.
NO POOL? NO WORRIES.
Did the pool guy not show up to do his job? No community pool or one in the backyard at all? There’s no need to fret, for a backyard oasis can be crafted in no time flat. Kiddie pools are typically inexpensive and can be found at any local store. Simply pick a desirable location (preferably somewhere sunny), inflate, and use a hose to fill it up. Sprinklers are also a good substitute for pools and just as refreshing. Just make sure to be environmentally conscious and only use them as needed.
NO GAS, NO CAR, AND ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Having an automobile is generally helpful to get you here and there during the summer. However, being without a license or having parents who constantly work can make vacations and trips somewhat difficult. Bikes are good investments to get to closer locations like a friend’s house or a park. For longer distances, carpooling is always the best way to go. Gather a bunch of friends with a safe driver, pitch in some gas money, and enjoy the day doing something exciting.
ROLLER COASTER HYSTERIA.
Amusement parks are hotspots during the summer, filled with tourists and locals alike. The tickets and extra costs can be pricey, and the distance presents a problem to some. A good substitute for theme parks is local fairs. They may not have the same glitz and glamour as theme parks, but they are cheaper and provide entertaining attractions for their guests.
LOW ON FUNDS, BUT NOT ON FUN.
It’s a little too hopeful to expect to do something every day during the summer, mostly because of the money required to accomplish certain things. Even so, there are many inexpensive things that can be done right at home. The crowd favorite is always movie nights. All that is required is to rent a few DVD’s, dish out some snacks, and invite friends over for a night that everyone can enjoy. County festivals are also inexpensive and provide a whole day of fun things to do. Just remember that a lot of money isn’t necessary to beat the summer blues.
If things go haywire during the summer, or even during the school year, there’s no reason to not make the best of the situation. Plans always go awry, but with a little dedication, there’s always a way to ensure some fun. These tips will last all year, keeping the world filled with summer 24/7.
