Gateway to Science (GTS) is a club liked by many and a perfect one to join, providing volunteer hours in the most entertaining way possible.
GTS at Seminole High School (SHS) goes to different elementary schools such as Wilson and Jefferson along with community after school places to teach sparkling little minds about science through experiments.
From freshmen to seniors, GTS is a fan favorite with many people excitedly looking forward to joining it. Experiments such as slime and oobleck are only some of the few best ones. Many events take place throughout the year where numerous little kids show up ready to learn. Anshika Pinnamaraju, a sophomore in IB, joined GTS last year and one of her favorite experiments they did was “making parachutes and seeing the kids light up when their parachute worked.”
GTS also provides volunteer hours for scholarships and college resumes. Every event you go to provides more volunteer hours for you to earn your scholarship. One of the vice presidents of the club, Kiara Katira, an IB sophomore, states: “Gateway is a great club as it provides volunteer hours and you get to perform fun experiments with your friends.”
Meetings usually take place every other Friday in room 03032 at the science building. Groups of up to three to five people can be formed and events usually occur every other Thursday or friday. Fees are merely twenty dollars in which you can get a shirt, experiment materials, and volunteer hours.
Overall, Gateway to Science is a phenomenal club consisting of your friends, astonishing experiments, and sparkling young minds. It’s a perfect introductory club to school and a great one to help you with your college resume. Make sure to follow them @nolesgts!
