On the night of September 10th, the Seminole high school (SHS) girls volleyball teams traveled to Lake Mary high school (LMHS). The head-to-head rivals played entertaining and intense matches.
All of the teams (first-year student, JV, and varsity) played that night. Both the first-year student and JV teams lost, but those games still had very close scores.
Both teams proved how capable they are at winning future games and how they are growing as players. Once the clock hit 7:30, it was time for varsity to come out. There were many Bokey students, parents, and fans who attended the game to help cheer on the Noles.
The varsity teams came out ready to face their biggest rival of the season. The Noles vs the Rams has created one of the greatest conflicts in Seminole County. When it was time for Seminole to serve their first point, the players and fans could feel the intensity in the air.
During the first half, the game was tied 18-18. It was a fight towards the end of the half with each team grappling to get the two points needed before the other team in order to win the first half. Unfortunately, LMHS beat SHS to it with the ending score being 27-29.
During the second half, the Noles made a quick comeback with LMHS trailing behind with a score of 4-8 within the first few minutes. However, the rams quickly came back to tie it up with a score of 12-12. However, SHS showed more dominance and won the second half with a total of 27-25.
The game went into overtime due to each team winning one half. One of the best plays of the night happened during overtime. Senior, Jayden Gorman was able to save the ball from hitting the floor by kicking it back up with her foot, which helped secure a point for the team.
Unfortunately, the SHS team fell short by just two points with the final score being 33-31. There were three sets that went into overtime, which made for a very eventful game. The atmosphere made the night even more electrifying. So whenever you don’t have plans, make sure to attend the next girls volleyball game before the season ends.
