The excitement is growing as Seminole High School (SHS) prepares for its annual girls’ lacrosse spring season. Tryouts were held on January 21st and 22nd, and team announcements were released the next day. For the two days, each girl put their skills to the test to show the coaches they had what it took to commit to the team.
Requirements for tryouts were strict, with every athlete having to come prepared with all of their medical clearances done, all of the proper equipment including a pair of goggles, a women’s lacrosse stick, a mouthguard, and most importantly, a bottle of water. Hydration is key to any student participating in a sport-like activity, especially in this case lacrosse, which is a fast-paced sport highlighting agility and speed.

Tryouts were open to every student interested in learning the game. Conditioning was highly encouraged to participate in beforehand, which was held two weeks before tryouts. This included mile Monday, wall ball Wednesday, and fitness Friday, with each day highlighting different points to improve overall skill.
The SHS girls lacrosse team is looking forward to yet another very exciting season, and tryouts were just the first step into the future for this team. Whether you have been playing your whole life or just picked up a stick for the first time at tryouts, the welcoming environment of the team ensures a fun and comfortable season for every player on the roster. And, as we roll into the season, with the first game being held on February 10th against Boone High School, make sure to come out and support the team, and a huge congratulations to every member of the team for battling all of the trials and tribulations that come with tryouts. Good luck girls!
