After the first game was canceled last Friday due to a transportation malfunction with the opposing team, the fighting Seminoles took on the Heritage Panthers of Palm Bay, Florida, for their first game and first win with a score of 34-14.
At the start of the first quarter, an exhilarating touchdown was made only thirteen seconds into the game. The Seminoles were able to take a 10-0 lead.
Quarter two did not disappoint either. As the clock hit thirty seconds, a rushing touchdown was made. The Varsity Cheerleaders sprinted to the endzone in celebration and with high confidence. The extra point was successful, and with a score of 17-0, halftime began.
The Varsity Dazzlers showed out for an amazing performance in uniforms that were never seen before. Engaging the crowd, the Band and Color Guard take the field. The student section represented the Noles with the blackout theme of the game and chanted along with the halftime entertainment.
The third quarter began with a Seminole kickoff to Heritage that landed a field goal for the Noles. At 37 yards, the score bumped up to 20-0. However, the Panthers let it be known that they were not in town for a shutout. Heritage made a pass for a touchdown. The extra point is also made, leading the score to 20-7. There was not much after that in the third quarter, but the action-packed game was not over just yet.
Another field goal was kicked to open up the fourth quarter. Heritage tried to make their comeback with a passing touchdown complete and carried along that extra point. The total score at the moment was 23-14, Seminoles. The Noles were not going out with a loss, so a rushing touchdown was completed, although the extra point was missed. With six minutes left, a safety was called against Seminole, awarding two points to the Panthers. To close out this game, a field goal secured the final score at 34-14 with a win to start the Seminole season.
Notable stats from this game include Liam Allen’s field goals. He kicked four field goals throughout the game at 45, 37, 31, and 31 yards. The Seminoles defense offered up sacks from Javon Peterson, Terrance Thomspon Jr., and Marshawn Taylor. A kick return was made for 88 yards by Juan Berchal. J’len Chaplin also made a kick return for 75 yards. An incredible touchdown was made by Quarterback Michael Clayton II.
Next week, the Seminoles play the Lyman Greyhounds. The students and community hope to have a game as good as the game that the Noles played this Friday night.
