The fall athletic season is marching in, and the Seminoles follow suit in their march to the football field, ready for another great season in all of their sports. Sophomore Tamara Zishuk says that school sports are a “great way to interact with peers.” Many students, though, are left wondering how they can become participants in the school’s athletic programs, and take full advantage of the district’s “triple-A experience.” The Seminole, in partnership with the athletic department, offers these tips to help students join the various sports teams here on campus, and represent Seminole High.
The school website features an extremely helpful athletics page, boasting a massive trove of links and downloadable forms. Seminole Athletic Director and Coach Mike Powers tells students that “everything you need” to participate is available for download on the Athletics page (link provided at bottom of article).
To participate in sports this year, students will also need their original birth certificate, social security card, and, for sports other than football, a verification of health insurance. Freshmen who aspire to play sports must have been promoted, and not assigned, from the eighth grade, and all students must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above.
Finally, Powers advises all students to listen to the morning announcements every day. Junior Kylie Routson agrees, saying that “all it comes down to is paying attention.” All additional information needed to sign up, including phone numbers with which to contact the coaches, are available on the Athletics page, linked below.
