The ‘Stranger Things’ star Millie Bobby Brown is now engaged to the son of Jon Bon Jovi, Jake Bongiovi. On Tuesday April 11th, Brown announced their engagement through a photo she posted on her Instagram of the two hugging on the beach with a large diamond ring on her ring finger. Soon after the announcement many fans congratulated the two including popular social media stars. The news quickly became widespread, and it is all everyone has been talking about the past week. Not to mention Brown wrote on her instagram stating “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all.” Many fans went ballistic as she referenced Taylor Swift’s song “Lover.” 

IB sophomore Zia Ali exclaimed: “When I found out the news I was so surprised and happy for her! I have always been a huge fan of Millie Bobby Brown and I am glad she is finally content and happy. She has gone through so much and she deserves someone that can treat her right. From the moment the two started dating it seemed like a healthy and normal relationship to me as they are just two individuals similar in age and personality. I am very excited for their wedding to soon happen!” Ali discovered the announcement from Brown’s Instagram post as she is a huge fan of the actress. She does not know much about Bongiovi, but knowing the two are happy has her overwhelmed with joy.

In addition to Brown’s post, Bongiovi also posted two photos of the two together on Instagram alongside the beach with the caption “Forever.” On Instagram, Brown has a following of 63.2 million while Bongiovi has a following of 1.3 million so it is no surprise how much the news of their engagement spread. Compared to Brown’s fanbase and influence Bongiovi’s is relatively small however his comment section blew up as well in regards to their engagement. After Brown’s post some were unsure if the subtle announcement was a rumor or not, but Bongiovi’s posts got rid of any speculations fans might have had. Fans all around the world have been talking nonstop about the news as Brown’s fanbase is enormous. The extremely famous ‘Stranger Things’ star shifted social media’s focus all to her once the couple announced the shocking news. 

For many fans the engagement was completely unexpected as Brown had just turned 19 in February. There is lots of debate on whether or not the star is too young to be getting married as she has her whole life ahead of her. She has barely been an adult for two years and she is already engaged. Some fans find it absurd that she decided to get married as she is not even in her twenties yet. They feel she is too young and immature to take on such a large responsibility and commitment, thinking she does not know what she has gotten herself into. Despite so many congratulations, Brown has been looked down upon by supposed haters as she is said to be too young to focus on something as important as marriage. They believe Brown should focus on her own life and things that she wants to accomplish rather than such a commitment. 

Senior Abigail Vega stated: “Everyone has recently been talking about the engagement because it just came out of nowhere. In my opinion it was so random and honestly odd. Millie Bobby Brown is 19 years old which makes her only a year older than me. To think that she is getting married is so weird to me. It is as if I were to get married as soon as I graduate. Which is an overwhelming thing to think about. She is human and can decide what she wants for herself, as she is an adult, but still if I were in her shoes I would not get engaged at such an early age. There is still so much I would want to do and my love for someone will not stop me from that. She is so successful and popular I feel that there is so much for her to do still.” Vega so evidently was not against the idea of Brown’s engagement but just found it odd. Her own mindset and views differ from Brown’s choices and she cannot imagine herself dealing with a significant commitment. 

The announcement of Brown and Bongiovi’s engagement has set social media in a spiral. It is all you can hear people talking about as they both hold so much influence, especially Brown. Despite differing opinions on news itself, all that matters is that the two stars are happy and healthy moving forward with their engagement!
