The buzz is true; Seminole High School has recruited a new Advanced Placement Human Geography teacher with a 100% pass rate, Mrs. Emily Painter. She may be new to Seminole High School, but is not new to teaching.

Along with a perfect pass rate this past year, she has five years of experience in Palm Beach County and formerly worked on Wall Street as an Ivy League school recruiter. Through her work she found the inspiration for teaching. Having loved the atmosphere and working with students, she was inspired to further utilize her previous experience and pursue her teaching career.

Freshman May Ibison notes, “Although I didn’t have a first initial impression, Painter makes everyone feel very welcome; I’m excited for what’s to come.”

After teaching Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) in Palm Beach County, Painter moved to Seminole County to be closer to family. She is very excited to work with her new students and to teach those who are just as passionate about learning.

Senior Tyler Redoutey was at first skeptical about the class, but found he was able to ease into it  despite his earlier worries.

“My first impression of Painter was that she was a very nice lady and I still do think that. Having traveled to other places definitely gives her an advantage, especially with teaching AP Human Geography,” says Redoutey.

Painter also feels very passionate about AP Human Geography. Having past experiences of living in Australia and Asia, also having traveled to over twenty countries, and five continents, she urges students to be brave and explore outside of their norm.

“I believe travel brings an openness to your life like nothing else and encourage anyone that has an opportunity to see the world to take the chance… it will be a life changer,” says. Painter.

Painter feels that Seminole has welcomed her with open arms.

“I have had a great experience so far and have been so impressed with the caliber of the students, the support of the administration and the inclusiveness of the faculty and staff,” says Painter. “Thank you for such a warm welcome. Glad to be a Seminole!”
