Steaming hot lattes or refreshing lemonade, whatever your preference is, Seminole’s new coffee shop has got it all.
After the two week winter break, students returned to school tired yet some happy. What they didn’t expect , though, was the surprise waiting for them on campus. Filtered, a brand new coffee shop next to the cafe. Walking into the cafeteria, talk quickly spread through about the shop, with personal baristas and exceptionally fast service. Lines soon formed, extending through the cafe, with people crowding around for their latte.
“I did not want to come back to school again after winter break, especially because I have to wake up at 5am to catch my bus,” says sophomore Siya Hedaoo. “But, the shop definitely surprised me and makes it a bit easier now, because I’m not as tired anymore ”
Many students would originally wake up extra early in the morning to grab some coffee on the way to school. However, this was time consuming and pretty expensive. Recognizing this, Seminole high school built Filtered, containing a variety of food and drinks from lemonades to parfaits. Additionally, allowing students to get a snack without going off campus.
While the coffee shop was spoken about in the beginning of the year, no one had too high expectations for it. However, these expectations were surpassed with its delicious flavors and moderate prices ranging from $1 to $4. Danika Zhou , IB sophomore, states “I used to wake up early and go out before school to grab a coffee or a small snack, but now I can just stop by here. I thought it was going to be pretty expensive, but compared to others, 3 dollars isn’t too bad. Plus the lemonades are pretty good.”
Although there are mixed opinions about Filtered, many are pleasantly surprised, excited to get a little pick-me-up snack before classes start.
Overall, with the varying food options and fast service, this place has quickly become many people’s favorite place to go, helping combat the tiredness long classes come with.
