It’s almost that time of year again; the temperatures drop, the fireplace turns on, and everyone is bundled up in their jackets and coats. Of course there’s plenty of time in the world for playing out in the cold or relaxing with a hot cup of tea, but before that happens, winter clothes need to be bought.
This winter, some of the coolest new fashions are hitting the store racks, and everyone should get a chance to enjoy them. For women, oversized coats and puffy jackets are popular. For the guys, lots of plaid collared shirts and Oxford Street shoes are coming their way.
Besides these new trends, the classics will also be going on sale once again, like UGG boots, Under armour fleece, and The North Face jackets. According to winterwomen.com, The North Face jackets are some of the highest selling winter jackets for men, women, and kids.
While these classic winter fashions will keep some people warm, others would like to know what’s new in stores for the 2012 winter season. According to millionlooks.com, the newest trend this winter is scarves; usually the long shawl kind.
Freshman Brianna Obey agrees with the website by saying she’s always loved wearing “sweaters and boots,” but she thinks “scarves are going to be the ‘new trend.’”
All the girls and women have heard about some new trends now, but what about the boys and men? According to fashion.telegraph.co.uk, they must keep an eye out for heavy plaid coats and cotton undershirts. Sophomore Jose Colon agrees and said, “I think guys will probably get Under armour undershirts or some type of cotton [undershirt].”
However, with all these new trends being thrown out there, some people would rather just stick to the classics. For women, people can expect more UGG boots, according to ABC News. Sophomore Karla Vazquez said she’s most excited to wear them as well, “because they’re always warm and cozy.”
So whether or not people like the new fashion statements, the older trends, or have their own unique style, there are plenty of pieces and ideas for everyone to try out this winter.
