2012 is a new year and new season for the entertainment and music industries. Artists are launching themselves into the media and stunning their audiences with new music, a new sound, and of course, new concerts.
To musicians, concerts are valuable in establishing a connection with their fans and putting on a great show with the music, and they make music lovers and concerts-goers fall deeper in love with the band or artist. Especially with a very competitive market in the music industry, artists have to stay relevant and produce not just music that grabs the attention of someone listening to the radio, but also someone watching the musicians perform live.
Junior Ethan Andrews can attest to that, “My favorite part [of concerts] is when they start playing your favorite song and you just start singing along. It’s amazing how much better the songs are in person.”
Janelle Monáe, an up-and-coming musician known for her song, “Tightrope,” explained in a YouTube interview with Punch Bowl Blog what touring really means to her, “It’s been my dream and a goal of mine to recreate the album experience on stage. The album is an emotion picture, and so that’s what I want visually. People come to feel like they are watching an ’emotion picture.'”
For other artists as well, touring and performing on stage has lasting effects on the audience, and the experience that the audience has visually and emotionally at a concert can change how they view the musician forever.
Many artists and bands are making stops in Florida to perform on stage in the next few months to dazzle and amaze audiences. There are some Seminole High School students who would love to be listening and dancing to these musicians as they perform their hit songs, like senior Allison Calkins, who wants to see Drake. “I love Drake and he is coming on February 24 to Tallahassee. I not only get to see him, but my friends at Florida State University as well.”
Junior Bianca Estrada would love to go to a Pitbull concert, even though he hasn’t booked any dates in Florida yet, “Especially if Marc Anthony and Ne-Yo was [sic] with him. His songs are always upbeat, and he’s not so bad looking either.”
Tool, an American rock band based out of California, has captured the hearts of heavy metal lovers worldwide. The band will be in the Orlando area on February 7 at the University of Central Florida Arena.
Allstar Weekend, another Cali-based band, known for their pop-rock sound, will be at the House of Blues Orlando according to Ticketmaster on February 9.
For all the comedy fans, ventriloquist and stand-up comedian Jeff Dunham will be at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach on February 12.
March is also a great month to see some amazing musicians perform. The famous Elton John will be at the Amway Arena on the 3rd.
The Grammy nominated band MUTEMATH will be at the House of Blues on the 17th.
Country music stars Little Big Town will be in Orlando at the Hard Rock Live on the 24th.
Though their 2012 tour has been postponed due to lead singer Anthony Kiedis’ foot surgery, according to E! Online, The Red Hot Chili Peppers will still be kicking off their tour in Florida, and will make their way to Orlando at the Amway Arena on the 31st.
For those Seminole students who are planning to go see their favorite artists perform live in the upcoming months, make sure to get tickets as early as possible because tickets for bands such as Tool, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and even Coldplay, who will be performing in the Central Florida area in June, sell out quick.
When buying from sites such as TicketMaster, StubHub, and Live Nation, read the reviews that previous concert viewers have posted. For first time concert-goers, research and be prepared for the different demands of the venue and even artists. Some concert venues will not let in items like digital cameras or outside food.
However, the limitations of the venue cannot out shadow the concert experience. Keep an open mind and enjoy the show. Concerts are interactive, fun, and an experience that no one should miss out on.
