The 2013 varsity football season began with a bang for Seminole High School, as the ‘Noles beat Winter Springs comfortably, 21-0.
Junior quarterback Horonadis “NewK” Tillman and senior runningback Joe Baker paced a potent running attack that wore down the Bears over the course of the game. The pair connected for the first touchdown of the season in the first quarter, as Tillman hit Baker on a flare route out of the backfield for an eight-yard touchdown pass.
Senior receiver Milton Williams set up the second touchdown with a solid punt return in the second quarter. The drive ended with less than a minute left in the half with a Williams touchdown grab from senior quarterback Dean Wilson, putting the ‘Noles up 14-0 at halftime.
Seminole then put the game out of reach with the opening drive of the third quarter, marching down the field until Tillman scampered into the endzone for the final score of the game.
The defense played a solid game as well, shutting out Winter Springs. They contained the Bears’ running attack and showed an ability to bounce back after giving up big plays.
The ‘Noles are back in action next Friday, September 6, at 7:00 P.M. against Flanagan.
