The 2014 lacrosse season brought new victories for the boys’ lacrosse team.
The boys have had many ups and downs this season. They beat Oviedo, Lake Brantley, and Hagerty for the first time, but their greatest win was against then-unbeaten area powerhouse Lake Brantley.
Junior Josh Sacks, who plays on the boys’ varsity team said, “I feel that after beating Brantley, we can beat anyone in Central Florida.”
The team was led by a new coach this year, Coach Mike Vong Kamecke. Though it was his first year as a offense and defense coach at Seminole, he used to coach at University of Tampa and Trinity Prep.
Senior Josh Williamson said, “I think this year, with the help of our new coach, we kind of turned the team around. From here, every year will continue getting better than the year before.” Williamson committed to Mercer University to play lacrosse on scholarship.
Junior Danny Winzeler said, “Next year, I feel we will have a strong team again, but we are going to lose a lot of seniors which will have an effect on the team.”
The varsity team will be losing 11 seniors this year, but Coach Kamecke is excited and ready to train for next year’s season.
Coach Kamecke said, “I think a lot of boys are not happy with how the season ended, and are going to use that to motivate them to get bigger, faster, and stronger. We will be a whole new team next year!”
