The Fighting Seminoles battled with the Lake Wales Highlanders for yet another win for the Noles. The Seminoles left the field last night with a record of 4-0.
Starting off the first quarter, Seminole kicked off to Lake Wales, then recovered a fumble soon after, gaining possession of the ball. Only two minutes later, the Highlanders kicked a 22-yard field goal. Shortly after, Seminole retrieved the ball, and Michael Clayton completed a 40-yard pass to Xavier Tucker for a touchdown, with the extra point by Liam Allen.
The score at the end of the first quarter was 7-3, Seminoles. Four minutes into the quarter, Clayton had a 6-yard pass completed for a touchdown, and Allen made the extra point. Seminole then had a fumble recovery that led up to another passing touchdown from Clayton, which caused much commotion from players and fans. The score at this point read 21-3, with the Noles in the lead. This quarter wasn’t over yet though, as Lake Wales made a 22-yard rushing touchdown. With two minutes to go in the second quarter, Juan Berchal intercepted a pass from the Highlanders. Allen then kicked a field goal, which closed off the second quarter with a score of 24-10.
At halftime, the white out theme of this game was apparent, with many students eager to show off their Seminole pride and school spirit.
The game then resumed in the third quarter, and Lake Wales tried to make their comeback with a rushing touchdown. The Noles were inside the red zone, gearing up to score when Allen kicked a 35-yard field goal. At this point the game was getting intense, with a 90-yard kick return for a touchdown from both teams, just a minute apart from each other.
One minute into the fourth quarter, Lake Wales secured a 3-yard rushing touchdown. Khamani Robinson then had a 90-yard kick return for a touchdown, carrying along the extra point from Allen. The Highlanders completed a 70-yard pass for a touchdown.
The final score for this game was 41-38, Seminoles. This was a very fierce game, but the Noles played the best way that they know how and came out on top.
