The #1 song for the summer is Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO. The party-loving duo has many hits such as “Yes,” and “LaLaLa,” which are all featured on their freshman album released in 2009 called Party Rock. Sky Blu and Redfoo are the members of LMFAO and write hit after hit for the party people. Their second album, Sorry for the Party Rockin’ was released this summer on June 21. The buyers of the album surely had a rocking summer which features ten fun-filled tracks. Nonetheless, the #1 hit kept everybody on their feet and shuffling—everyday.
What’s the result of adding Pitbull, Ne-Yo, Afrojack, & Nayer? A #2 hit on the Billboard charts. The upbeat tempo of the song, “Give Me Everything,” made it easy to move along to the catchy tune that is recognized everywhere. Although the first two songs on the charts are party songs, sultry singer Adele takes spot number 3 with the hit “Rolling in the Deep.” The good rhythmic song was based off of her heartbeat. Other songs on the top 10 list are made by three music divas, Katy Perry, Nicki Minaj, and Lady Gaga, who all have amazing tracks that have been in everyone’s radios. Katy Perry takes number 4 with “Last Friday Night,” while Nicki Minaj follows right behind with “Super Bass.” Lady Gaga is on “The Edge of Glory,” and on number 6.
While there are three more songs left on the countdown, Lil Wayne’s “How to Love” takes the next slot. The rapper/singer took a softer approach on his new single, writing a love song. “The Good Life” by One Republic was number 7 and was generally, a fun song, or as sophomore Sabrina Gandharry says, “’The Good Life’ is a song that celebrates youth, freedom, friendship, and all the finer, simpler things that makes living more enjoyable.” A song that takes the second to last position gets a review from sophomore Bria Vecenty, who says, “It has the same attitude that most teens would have when it’s summer time. They like to make every night fun.” “Tonight Tonight” is the perfect song to match this description because the song is all about making the most of every night, no matter the circumstance. The last song on the Top 10 chart is written about an ”Extraterrestrial,” the second hit of Katy Perry on the top 10 songs is from her album Teenage Dream.
The summer may be over, but there are still many things that are reminders of it. Some people can listen to a song and know exactly where they were, what they were doing, and who they were with when they first heard the song, such as sophomore Kelseigh Redmon, who remembers that “Party Rock Anthem” gives her memories of “trying to become the shuffle champion!” The fun memories don’t have to be forgotten; they can always be remembered with just a simple song, or maybe 10.
