Sherlock, a popular and highly acclaimed television show on BBC, is coming back for its third season on air. The show is scheduled to begin again in early January. The US and UK will have different release dates (UK is scheduled for January 1 and the US for January 19).
“It gives me something to do on Monday nights,” said senior Luke Speer.
The show gained a popular following after the first two seasons, and it has a large fan base eagerly awaiting its release, after the trailer for the new season was disclosed along with information about the new episodes.
The series will contain three episodes, just like the last two seasons, and each will involve a certain case Sherlock must solve. It is set two years after the last episode, “The Reichenbach Falls.”
We’ve waited long enough,” said junior Allison Miller. “It better be good. Tumblr is going crazy.”
The premise for the new season revolves around the faking of Sherlock’s death, and the big reveal to Dr. Watson—who is called by his first name, John, in the television series—that the detective is, in fact, still alive. A threatened terrorist attack brings Sherlock out of hiding, and he must work together with John once more, to solve the crime.
When asked what she is most excited about, junior Shelby Buchanan replied, “Seeing Sherlock and John’s friendship grow and change after John finds out Sherlock survived.”
The episode titles have been revealed to be “The Empty Hearse,” “The Sign of Three,” and “His Last Vow.”
So far, BBC has released online multiple pictures and hints about the episodes and what they might contain. Part of the second episode was also screened at Comic Con and shown to the audience. An official trailer for the third season has been released on YouTube.
The script for the premier episode has been written by Mark Gatiss and is expected to be as impactful as the other episodes in the TV series.
Fans from around the world are eagerly awaiting the return of the beloved series after the long wait from season two.
