On a wet, rainy day, November 16th, in Historic Downtown Sanford, various restaurants and shops across town participated in hosting the town’s Sanford Art & Jazz Night, a festivity that takes place every third Thursday of the month. Due to the grueling weather that came down that evening, less people than usual had shown up for the event this month; however, that didn’t stop the liveliness of the people who did show up to enjoy the live music, create fun art projects, and admire the local artwork around Sanford.
There were five participating venues for the event this month, and each place had something unique to offer for it. Deviant Wolfe Brewery, the fifth participating venue, had a paint pouring activity laid out on their tables for those who came to participate.
Hollerbach’s German Restaurant had live music performed by the Greg Parnell Group in their upstairs venue, The Hollerbach ÜberKeller, where locals sat back and enjoyed some ‘50s jazz tunes with their drinks. Other venues with live jazz music that night included Sanford Brewing Company with the Chris Nordman Trio, Dees Brothers Dewery with the Maygen Navarro Trio, and The Alley with Popa Chubby.
Of course, there are other areas around town to check out when looking for local art; Jeanine Taylor Folk Art is an art gallery in the area that not only holds various art pieces but also provides a guide.
