Startling news hit Seminole High this past week, as the school has been informed of the recruitment of students for a select modeling agency. The company in question is a popular modeling agency in Central Florida, looking for students to add to their ranks. Five ‘Noles will be chosen and the names will be released at the end of the week.
“I’m not allowed to speak about the recruits freely right now,” said Joseph Canton, an executive from the company. “The company wants to remain unknown until the scouting period is over. All I can really say is that we are searching for students who can meet our needs.”
The students selected will be given entry into the modeling agency. This includes future fashion shows, modeling shoots, and possible magazine coverage. The students will also be taken on a trip to Jamaica for their first shoot, and given a chance to experience the life of professional models.
“We will be purchasing hotel rooms at a five star hotel for the stay in Jamaica,” said Brent Carver, the scout who visited the SHS campus. “There will be a lot of cultural experiences, and seeing what models do for a living. But of course we will do fun things as well such as sightseeing, and I’m sure we can fit in a day for shopping. One of the best privileges about being a model is all the free clothes you can get.”
Due to the exclusiveness of the company, the executives wanted the recruitment to stay secret, wishing instead to weed out possible future employees. The agency sent out a representative scout to Seminole High, along with other schools in Orange, Seminole, and Volusia counties. Allegedly, the company wanted a variety of students from multiple backgrounds.
The undercover scout was allowed on campus for one week total, and was permitted to wander the campus between class breaks and before or after school. He was also supposedly given access to student yearbook pictures for this year to pick from. There are no reports of the scout approaching students so it is assumed that he only studied possible recruits.
“It’s a delicate thing. You don’t want everyone knowing what you’re doing or else everyone wants in. We are an exclusive company and therefore we are expected to only take on the best,” claimed Carver.
The sudden decision to recruit was caused by the rise in demand for popular teen models. As the popularity wave rises, so does the recognition of companies who can meet the teen model demand. In response to this, the agency began sending scouts to search schools for possible future models.
“We here at Seminole are proud to have been selected as one of the schools to be scouted,” said Principal Mike Gaudreu.
The company has contacted Seminole and is still selecting the five from the school. Further information will be given at the end of the week.
