On Friday, December 15th, Seminole High School’s thespian troupe (3266) performed their straight superiors one act “The Night Witches” for audiences in the KWC auditorium.
Taking place in the midst of World War II, “The Night Witches” tells the story of an all female Soviet bombing regiment who prepare excitedly to take flight when a sudden offensive attack from the enemy takes them completely by surprise, leading half of them to their demise. It truly paints a picture of how brutal war was back then, and how the tone of a performance can instantly shift from light hearted to emotional in a matter of minutes.
This production was an ensemble focused show, which starred Cayman Stranahan (who received the award for “Best Lead Performance In a Drama”), Emma Wadley (who received the “One Act All Star Actor” award), Madisyn Blake, Jayden Jensen, Emiley Tupper, Kiara Valle, Kallie Cummings, Azalea Bullock, Amalia Peñarredonda, and Ashley Katz.
The student executives for this show include student director Benjamin Mairs (who won “Best Prompt Book,” “Best Costume Design,” and “All Star Crew Member”), stage manager Ella Amir (“Best Prompt Book,”) technical director Oliver Petersohn, lighting director Tyler King, sound director Samuel Gomez, costume and hair director Lucinda Robbins, and props manager Jaden Adams.
We wish these thespians the best of luck as they head off to the next phase of competition for states!
