With the recent passing of Steve Jobs, technology has come to the forefront of many discussions and often, it is not realized just to what extent technology has influenced our lives. From an event as small as using Facebook to organize a party, to using Facebook to organize a revolution, technology has provided humanity the tools to become more connected – but whether this will have a positive or negative effect remains and is dependent on individual people. Indeed, technology has made the lives of both students and teachers easier, it has increased the availability of media – both legal and illegal, and in general, technology has permeated every layer of our life. In this issue of The Seminole, you will find articles ranging from how the new TI-INSPIRE is revolutionizing the calculator industry to how technology affects the experience of concert goers. On a more sober note, we explore what SHS students think about internet piracy and how online translators can have benefits and pitfalls. Even if you think technology has no impact on your life, remember what you are reading this on. Finally, remember to subscribe to our website to get instant updates whenever we post new stories.
