With a new semester starting, the introduction and start of certain sports seasons have begun as well! Pep rallies are usually held in the fall to celebrate upcoming football games and homecoming, but this pep rally is being celebrated later into the year to highlight the start of winter sports!
Pep rallies are a great way to let students know what is going on with sports and hype them up with performances by fellow students. They set a great mood for the season with cheers and a sense of unity.
When students entered the gym, dazzlers dance and music plays while waiting for everyone to settle in for the main performance. Once settled, this season’s sports were announced and the teams ran out. The girls and boys soccer teams ran out with both teams celebrating their district title wins! The other winter sports announced were girls weightlifting, boys and girls basketball teams, and girls wrestling team. Following the teams entrance was a performance by varsity dazzlers where they showed one of their dances that they will perform at nationals. Dazzlers are heading to nationals this week and leave the 13th to perform for the weekend. Ensuing after the performance as usual is a game hosted by leadership. The game this time was musical chairs with multiple students from each grade representing their grade. At the first pep rally, the sophomores won, however, at the second pep rally the juniors won. After the game cleared up, everyone, as always, gathered off the stands and stood together before going back to class or home. With the first pep rally ending, the second pep rally followed though this time it was a bit delayed and ended up bleeding into dismissal time.
Whether you love or hate them, pep rallies are a time to bring together students to celebrate the teams competing in sports this winter season.
